Air freshener rids the home and workplace of stale air and unpleasant odors. Standard scented sprays on the market not only smell artificial and over powering, but contain harmful, synthetic fragrances, chemicals, and allergens that irritate the respiratory system, especially impacting those with allergies or asthma.
Natural air fresheners made with aromatic essential oils are superior in quality and capability to synthetic commercial sprays. Essential oils are naturally extracted from various fruits, flowers, leaves and roots from around the world. They are available in a wonderful range of natural scents that can be used throughout the home and office.
When you make your own scented spray, the options and combinations are vast. Choose from a floral blend, like rose geranium or palmarosa, and tangerine; a fall scented bouquet with orange, cinnamon and ginger; or a fresh clean aroma with lemongrass, lemon, or lime. Essential oils are sold in singles or blends, which takes the guesswork out of determining suitable fragrant combinations.
Depending on your choice of essential oils, your fragrant air freshener can also boost the mood, enhance focus while working, promote wellness, and kill germs.
Try this basic recipe to make your own multipurpose, fragrant room spray --
10 ounces filtered water
4 ounces vodka
40 to 50 drops of your choice of aromatic essential oils, single or a combination
Add vodka and essential oils of your choice to an empty spray bottle. Add filtered water, affix spray top, and shake to combine.
Spray a sample in the room to determine if you want to add more scent to the bottle.
Note: The fragrance will be stronger, once the ingredients have had an opportunity to meld for several hours, or overnight.
